$80.00

This Standard Edition print comes from the project High-Rise Carpark. This scene was captured in 2021.

Standard Edition prints are printed on archival papers in the most advanced modern inks. All prints come in an archival protective slip. Standard Edition prints are designed to be as comfortable magnetised to a fridge, as they are protected in a frame or collectors folder.

The print, including border, has a dimension of 29.7cm W x 21cm H (A4).

Paper: Fine Art Baryta.

Camera: Voigtlander Bessa R4 Series (35mm Film).

Handling Remarks: This print may have small ink marks at the corners. This occurs during the printing process due to particular qualities in paper thickness and paper curvature. These marks are left as they fall and seen as the influence of external forces that exert themselves on the creative process. They are the qualities of life, that require all things to retain a certain unpredictability, and individuality beyond the intentions of mind and mechanical process.

Extended Description

I find this a peculiar print. At the bottom of the High Rise Carpark a derelict exit in some back corner reads ‘Emergency Exit Only’. Ominous light bleeds throughout the scene. Cracks on the interior wall give the sense something is wrong from within the building. Bizarrely, cracks on the bottom of the door are made from the outside, as if somebody was trying to get in. One visual force pushing you out, the other pushing you in.

The image is a metaphor for those moments in life where we can’t go backwards, and forwards appears an unfortunate proposition. As the note, or is it a warning?, states, ‘Emergency Exit Only’. Things have got to be pretty bad to go through that door…

But then again, maybe it’s daylight on the other side?
